Old News of the Day–March 27

Right now, dining in at one of New Jersey’s great restaurants will have to wait–it’s take out and delivery only. This March 27, 1920 Perth Amboy Evening News ad grabbed our attention. It shows all you could eat if you had Sunday dinner at Perth Amboy’s Presto Restaurant. Appetizer, soup, entree, and dessert–all for 85 cents!

At the NJ Digital Newspaper Project office, we agree that we’d give the mince chicken in cream on toast a miss, but we’re intrigued by the cabinet pudding.

We’ll be taking the weekend away from the old news, but will be back next week to share more!
