Travel to National Parks with New Jersey’s Newspapers!

On this Earth Day, we thought we’d share several stories about beautiful national parks in New Jersey’s newspapers.

The Sequoia and General Grant National Parks, featured in the December 10, 1920 Perth Amboy Evening News, was located on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. In an effort to protect the trees from logging, in 1940 Congress created Kings Canyon National Park, which absorbed General Grant National Park. Eventually the Sequoia merged with the park during World War II.

You can also read about Rocky Mountain National Park, featured in the October 01, 1919 Perth Amboy Evening News. This park, located in northern Colorado, encompasses 415 sq miles of beautiful mountains, lakes, and wildlife.
