The New Jersey Newspaper Project Team is happy to announce the recent additions to the project, which include Five Mile Beach Journal (1890-1906)/Five Mile Beach Weekly Journal (1906-`1923), Penns Grove Record (1878-?), Mount Holly News (1891-1942), and Pleasantville Weekly Press (1890-1911)!
The Five Mile Beach Journal (1890-1906) and its succeeding title Five Mile Beach Weekly Journal (1906-1923) was published in Wildwood, Cape May County, New Jersey. The first issue of Five Mile Beach Journal was published in 1890, however, July 8, 1898 was the first issue digitized on Chronicling America. This newspaper preceded the Five Mile Beach Weekly Journal, which began with its July 25, 1906 issue and ceased publication with its May 31, 1923 issue.
The Penn’s Grove Record (1878-?) was a weekly publication out of Penn’s Grove, Salem County, New Jersey. It started publication in 1878, however, the first digitized issue on Chronicling America is the January 7, 1882 issue. The last digitized issue available at this time is the December 28, 1923 issue.
The Mount Holly News (1891-1942) was a weekly publication out of Mount Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey. It started with its November 17, 1891 issue and ceased publication in 1942. The December 30, 1919 issue is the last digitized issue available at this time.
The Pleasantville Weekly Press (1890-1911) was a weekly publication out of Pleasantville, Atlantic County, New Jersey. It started with its September 14, 1892 issue and ceased publication with its December 27, 1911.
