For example, during their adolescent years, the brothers opened a printing business, which eventually transformed into a bicycle repair shop. In 1900, they started to experiment with the mechanics of flight. Their parents never lost hope in the brothers’ ability to succeed. At last, on December 17, 1903, the Wrights’ plane took flight on Kill Devil Hill, North Carolina.
This brief article, featured in March 15, 1923 Perth Amboy Evening News, describes Sperry’s new messenger plane. This plane, which resembles an aquaplane, is equipped with skis that allow passengers to hitch behind. This sounds like the airplane water skiing!
