These were the newspapers they thought were relevant? Not newspapers from high immigrant population districts – like Paterson, Newark, etc. The previous comment was spot on – the Newark Evening News, or even an earlier Newark Daily Advertiser, or one of the German newspapers would have been a better use of a grant than these obscure papers. Missed the mark on this one.

The Advisory Board selected titles from newspapers which were microfilmed as part of the New Jersey Newspaper Project around 30 years ago. These high quality microfilm masters have been meticulously preserved at the New Jersey State Archives. Unfortunately, the Newark Evening News was not part of that project.
